Florida Trip!

We got to spend a whole week in warm Fort Myers, Florida visiting Grammy & Grandpa. It was a very welcome relief to the biting cold we've had here in Kansas. The first 3 days were perfect beach and pool weather. The last half of the trip saw a bit chilly temps for Floridians (low-mid 60's) but we Kansans weren't complaining. Here are some pics and vids to commemorate our time there. Many thanks to Grammy & Grandpa for entertaining us. I did gain 5 lbs. so I do not wish to thank them for that! :)

Oliver packing for Florida. Please excuse my just-showeredness!

Warm enough (for some) to romp in the waves.

We happened to plant ourselves next to a giant hole someone dug in the sand. Needless to say, Oliver was set for the rest of the day. :)

Obligatory family beach pic.

I like big birds and I cannot lie.

Grammy and her O at Oliver's favorite place to eat on the beach. Live music, ya know.

Grandpa had some "wardrobe malfunctions" just after this shot was taken!

For the second year in a row, we went to the Naples Zoo when it was too chilly for the pool.

We discovered a GREAT park in Fort Myers called Lakes Park: complete with train rides, mega-playground, paddle boat rentals, and, um, giant inflatable slides!

While at the park (it's HUGE), we also discovered a Renaissance Festival going on. It has always been Matt's dream to attend one of these festivals, and this one did not disappoint. Top 5 places to people watch in the world. I dare say I will be forced to attend the one in Kansas City this year. The things we do for love!

Oliver sported his face-painted sword from the festival onto the airplane. He was a wee-bit grouchy at having to leave sunny Florida to come back to cold Kansas. Can't say I blame him. We had a blast!

I need a vacation!

Good thing the Coles clan is off to sunny Florida come Saturday. The holidays were wonderful but I am exhausted!
So exhausted, I don't even know where to begin to catch you all up on the last half of December. Matt's side of the family (Grammy, Grandpa, Aunt Meghan) came to visit chilly KS during Christmas week, and Nana and Papa drove up from Oklahoma the week after Christmas.
Santa came and officially spoiled my already-spoiled child. Oliver is now addicted to hot cocoa, has an unlimited supply of dress-up costumes courtesy of Grammy, and is still asking why Christmas can't stay longer.
I'm hoping sandcastles on the beach will help him get over it.

The Village People!

"What is it?"

In other news...snowboarding. Inside. Off of the ottoman. Sigh. I give up.
